INDIVIDUAL JEMEZ POTTERY

Carol Vigil Stunning Etched Jemez Pottery

In the authotitative book by Dr. Gregory Schaaff, 2000 artists biographies we rerad: ``Carol Vigil is an exceptional contemporary potter. Her work is often large and impressive. The shapes of her pots are unique, including some with elongated necks and diagonal lines. Her designs are complex. Some optical patterns become smaller around the shoulders. Her stone polish is smooth and glossy. The overall effect is most pleasing.''

Carol Vigil was born in Jemez on March 18, 1960. and was taught by her grandmother how to fashion wonderful works of art out of clay. Carol has been making storytellers since about 1985 and has won a number of awards in pottery competitions throughout the southwest, including the prestigious Santa Fe Indian Market.

The present offering is a beautiful, very impressive piece decorated with the star pattern, measuring 7 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
