INDIVIDUAL ACOMA POTTERY

Spectacular Vangie Tafoya Sgraffito Jemez Pottery

This is a truly magnificent very large and very beautiful bowl in the shape of a teardrop hand-made and hand decorated by Vangie Tafoya from the Jemez pueblo. It measures a spectacular 9 1/2 inches high and 6 1/2 inches in diameter. It is decorated by a gorgeous rendition of a butterfly, hummingbirds and flowers, done in Vangie's inimitable manner. Note the medallion-like circular area with the butterfly and the flower on the upper left and the bolt symbol in the back. It also has expertly executed geometric etchings and other line work. It is impeccably ribbed over the other half. It has three-color tones and is highly polished throughout. The mica gives it a beautiful sparkling aura. And is signed by Vangie.

Vangie Tafoya is a premier potter from the Jemez pueblo who has won her share of awards in Santa Fe Indian Market and the New Mexico state fair, including Best of Show awards.
