INDIVIDUAL ACOMA POTTERY

B. J. Fragua Kiva Steps Jemez Pottery

Betty Jean Fragua (B. J. Fragua) is an award winning potter from the Jemez pueblo who needs no further introduction to serious collectors of American Pueblo pottery. Betty Jean has been potting for over 20 years and has won many ribbons in competitions around the country, including the Santa Fe Indian market. Her polychrome pottery, both traditional and contemporary, is among the most appealing to emerge from the Pueblos. The present offering is a remarkable tour-de-force by this marvelous artist. It has a long neck that cascades down in the form of Kiva steps. The painting area is decorated with corn husks that look almost real. And the polishing of the rest of the pot is just superb.

This vase is quite large measuring 8 1/2 inches in height and 5 inches in diameter and is in mint condition with no defects. It is, of course, signed by Betty Jean.
