Avanyu Black on Black Sharon Garcia Santa Clara Pottery
Sharon Garcia is an award-winning potter from Santa Clara whose productive output includes carved and plain redware and blackwrae seed jars, vases, bowl water jars, and wedding vases., Her work has been distinguished with awards in many prestigious competitions such as the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts and Crafts Show and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
Sharon was taught the craft of creating magnificent works of art from clay by her grandmother Christina Naranjo and in turn she has taught her craft to her sister, Judy Tafoys.
The present piece is done in Sharon's famous half polished half matte finish and shows an Avanyu coiled around the surface. The pot measures 7 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide and is signed by Sharon.
