INDIVIDUAL ZUNI POTTERY

Randy Nahohai Prancing Deer Zuni Bowl

Randy Nahohai was born into the Eagle Clan at Zuni Pueblo and has been active in creating wonderful works of art from clay since about 1983. Randy was taught the art of pottery by his mother, Josephine Nahohai.

Randy is one of the best known Zuni potters and has won his share of awards at juried competitions throughout the South West. His favored motifs are Deer with heart lines, Long-haired Katcinas, Kokopeli, water serpents, dragonflies and frogs.

The present piece is decorated with a number of heart line deer in various configurations of prancing about. The painting is solid and the color gives the pottery an almost ethereal aura.

The pot measures 7 1/2 inches tall by 7 inches in diameter.
