Acoma Parrot-Franklin Peters Acoma Pottery
For a young potter, still in his 30's, Franklin Peters has established himself as one of Acoma's upcoming pottery masters. At the same time, he was taught by two of Acoma's most accomplished potters, Florence and Rachel Aragon. His work is characterized by bold slips and colors, sharp lines and traditional designs flawlessly executed.
This exquisite pot is painted brown, orange and red on white with Franklin's fine Acoma parrot on two sides, surrounded by stylized flowers and leaves. These birds are separated with a wide design of cloud patterns and other traditional designs and the rim is finished with a spirit line. The pottery stands 8 1/4 inches tall x 10 1/4 inches wide, and is signed by Franklin.
