INDIVIDUAL SANTO DOMINGO POTTERY

Warren Coriz Stunning Olla Santo Domingo Pottery

Being a student of Robert Tenorio has been a wonderful opportunity for Warren Coriz. From the Santo Domingo Pueblo, in his late 30's, Warren makes all his pottery in the traditional manner; hand dug clay and slips, hand coiling, painting with natural slips, and outdoor firing. Warren is the son-in-law of the late Hilda and Arthur Coriz, whose pottery has earned him two First Place Awards at the 2006 Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Show. His work continues to improve rapidly. He is a terrific painter, and also is becoming well known for his coiling of wonderful, classic shapes. There is a beautiful translucent quality to his work - very typical of Santa Domingo pottery.

The pot measures 9 3/4 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches in diameter. It is decorated with birds riding the backs of turtles, along with floral designs.
