INDIVIDUAL JEMEZ POTTERY

Alma Concho Jemez Koshare Clown Pottery

This wonderful Koshare clown with 3 children attached, one peaking over her shoulder was made by Alma Concho. The singer and the two children on her feet are holding slices of watermelon. Alma is known for this vividly stylized clown with large emphasized eyes and thick dark brown and cream paint. The heads of each child are positioned slightly differently and the storyteller and 1 child hold thin slice of bright red watermelon in their hands. Additionally, the storyteller has turquoise and nugget earrings hanging from her ears. Dried cornstalks protrude from the top of each head.

The pottery measures 11 inches tall x 8 1/4 inches wide, and is signed by Alma.
