INDIVIDUAL JEMEZ POTTERY

Carol Lucero Gachupin Standing Family Storyteller Jemez Pottery

Carol Lucero Gachupin was born in Jemez Nov. 19, 1958, the daughter of Margarita Lucero. She is the sister of Mary R. Lucero and is related to Mary G. Romero (Laura Gachupin's mother) who taught her how to make pottery. Carol specializes in polychrome storytellers, jars and bowls, often in Hopi, Pueblo or Navajo styles. Carol is known for the sharpness of her lines on pottery decorations and the overall neatness of her work.

The present offering is a beautiful, very expressive storyteller family that measures 9 inches tall, 5 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The sculpture depicts a father and mother storytellers singing to seven children.
