Margaret Gutierrez Santa Clara Cross-eyed Turtle Pot

Margaret Gutierrez is the daughter of Lela and Van Gutierrez and the sister of Luther Gutierrez. The pair of brother and sister produced some of the most spectacular and often whimsical pottery in Santa Clara while Luther was still alive. Now Margaret is carrying on the tradition and makes incredible pieces out of clay. In his book 750 Artist Biographies Dr. Gregory Schaaf devotes more than a page to the pottery of Margaret Gutierrez.

The horned cross-eyed owl is measures 3 1/5 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall and has a beautiful avanyu painted on the body of the owl.
