INDIVIDUAL SANTA CLARA POTTERY

Bernice Moquino Santa Clara Unique Marine Scene Pot

Bernice Moquino was born on May 6, 1970, a member of the Santa Clara/Zia Coyote Clan and the daughter of famed Santa Clara potter Corn Moquino who was one of her teachers in the art of working with the clay. Bernice says of herself ``making pottery soothes me and brings me peace. It's a part of me andwhen the Lord decides to take me from this earth, a part of me will always live on in my art.''

Bernice's work has been distinguished with first and second place ribbons in a number of pottery competitions around the Southwest.

The present piece is quite unique showing a maritime scene executed impeccably by Bernice. The creatures seem to be almost alive as they swim around a truly realistic sea scene. The pot measures 3 1/4 inches tall by 3 3/4 inches wide.
