Nicolas Ortiz Black on Black Rabbit Mata Ortiz Pottery

Nicolas Ortiz makes possibly the best effigy pottery anywhere and he is the indisputable master in Mata Ortiz pottery. He is known for his double black on black ollas with the handles made into the effigy of two intertwined snakes with a mouse or two mice inside the pot, his wild boars, bears with fish in their mouths, rabbits, and owls. He also makes black on black and polychrome rabbits, owls, turtles, snails and other forms of life. This is his famous B/B rabbit, decorated in detailed checkered designs and fine lines. This is a large pot, measuring a full 10 1/2 inches High, by 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep. And is signed by Nicolas.
