INDIVIDUAL MATA ORTIZ POTTERY
-
Roberto Banuelos Plate on Stand Mata Ortiz Pottery
Roberto Banuelos is arguably among the top ten potters in Mata Ortiz and his name is by now legend among pottery collectors. Roberto's pottery is exceptionally light and is decorated with some of the most precise fine lines or figures such as fish, rabbits, and lizards. The speckled effect that he achieves in his backgrounds defines him immediately for the collector of Mata Ortiz pottery. Roberto Banuelos is mentioned prominently in the authoritative book The Many faces of Mata Ortiz, pages 85-87. He's mentioned in almost every write up of Mata Ortiz pottery and his works are displayed in museum and collections everywhere.
The present plate with stand measures 12 inches wide by 13 inches tall. The decoration is one of the two that he makes with the fish motif.
